THE ‘BLACK DIAMOND’ ROYAL LIBRARY

The ‘Black Diamond’ Royal Library is also a concert hall, a theatre and two museums located in one building. It is impossible to pass the building indifferently. The Royal Library was designed by Danish architect – Schmidt Hammer Lassen. The facade of the building is coated with black granite changing its outlook depending on a viewing angle or time of the day. A vast fresco on the ceiling painted by famous Danish painter Per Kirkeby is definitely worth visitors’ attention.

THE ROYAL PLAYHOUSE

The Royal Playhouse was designed by the Danish architectural studio Lundgaard & Tranberg. The building received the RIBA European Award for its architecture in 2008. The design of the chairs was awarded with Red Dot Design Award.

THE ROYAL DANISH OPERA HOUSE

The Royal Danish Opera House was designed by famous Danish architect Henning Larsen. Previously the opera was located in the eighteenth century Royal Theatre known today as the ‘Old Scene’ that still stages various artistic events. The cost of a new building was € 335 million and it is regarded as one of the highest in the world. Nevertheless all costs was covered by 91-year-old Danish billionaire and music lover who made the budget of Danish taxpayers unharmed this way. Auditorium ceiling is entirely covered with plates of pure 24-carat gold. The walls and balconies are covered with maple wood which because of its colour and a texture remind of a violin.

YOU MAY BUY OR NOT BUT IT IS ALWAYS WORTH BARGAINING…
